Director: Catherine Miller
Asst. Director: Valarie Lund
Catherine Miller has dedicated herself to educating preschool children for 26 years. She holds a site supervisor's permit in child development
from the California Credentialing Commission. She earned an associate's degree in early childhood education, serves as a professional growth advisor
for college students, and is a certified mentor for early childhood teachers and directors. She taught at a variety of schools on the Peninsula, served
as director for a large school in San Bruno, and owned and operated her own home-based childcare prior to becoming assistant director of Pacifica Co-op
Nursery School in 2000. In 2006, Catherine became the director of PCNS. Since she believes that it really does "take a village" to raise a child,
fostering a parenting community in the co-op environment has been her most fulfilling career experience. Catherine has two sons, nineteen-year-old Jamie
and fifteen-year-old Liam, a graduate of PCNS.
Valarie Lund has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for 3 years. She holds a Preschool Teacher’s Permit in Child Development
from the Credentialing Department of Sacramento and she is currently working on her degree in Early Childhood Education. Valarie has experience in
working with elementary and preschool children and has a background in business administration with managerial experience. A native Pacifican,
all of Valarie’s children, Jacob (21), Emily (9) and Samuel (7) attended the Co-op. Valarie strongly believes in teaching young children through
play and in letting them grow and learn in a natural environment at their own pace.
