Admission Notes

Thank you for your interest in joining our nursery school. We are proud of our school and are glad you would like to join us. Our school’s program is dependent on parent participation to facilitate the many activities that contribute to an enriched environment not often possible in Day Care or other types of Nursery Schools. We sincerely hope you will join us in this endeavor. We strongly recommend that if you haven’t already visited our school, you do so by calling 650-355-3272 to arrange for a tour.

In general, we exercise open enrollment: when we have an open slot, parents will be contacted to confirm their child’s readiness and they will be given the necessary application forms. Families will be called, based on a priority system. The priority in which you get into the school is as follows:

  1. Continuing families
  2. Enrolled families adding days
  3. Enrolled families adding siblings
  4. Alumni families
  5. New families, in order of the waiting list and readiness criteria

We can reserve your slot upon receipt of the registration fee and signed membership commitment forms. All forms should be turned in as soon as possible; children cannot attend until their physician’s reports are turned in, and parents cannot fulfill their work commitments until their Physicals and TB reports are turned in. Upon receipt of the paperwork, medical clearances and checks, your enrollment days and work day will be scheduled.

If you are a new family and think that you are never going to get in, don’t worry. Many of the members on the waiting list are not yet ready for entry. The largest number of enrollment openings shows up after the June graduation of some 20-30 students who are moving on to kindergarten. However, we continue to accept new members until all the slots are filled throughout the year. It is important to know that after the June graduation returning families will be given first choice for available morning and afternoon slots. In some years, the morning is totally filled with returning families and alumni. Many new families enter in the PM and transfer to AM as slots become available. It is helpful to the program to fill as many slots as possible before the September entry date, and there is a great push to do so. If you are going to be away during the months of April through September and feel you are eligible for enrollment, please contact us so that we can get you the necessary forms and details.

If you are interested in participating in our program but cost is an issue, please look into our tuition-assistance scholarship program. All information will be handled confidentially. Currently, we have four 3-day scholarship slots available, and these will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our regular program explores many themes throughout the year. The purpose of these explorations is to facilitate the children’s development of their bodies, minds and feelings through an ever exciting program. The variety of activities offered through the thematic approach exposes the children to a broad spectrum of ideas, concepts and physical challenges. Children respond and interact to the program at their own level of readiness and this is greatly respected and supported at our school. It is important to remember that with pre-schoolers among their first tasks are organizing and controlling their bodies, then their minds, and, with our help, their feelings. The processes that we emphasize at the preschool are truly what comes before the basics of kindergarten. We once again hope you will join us in this very important and exciting process.

Thank you!
